After completing his training, Dr. Perez Oliva returned to Caracas where he was on the medical staff of the Instituto de Columna Caracas as well as the Hospital de Clínicas Caracas (HCC) and Centro Médico Docente La Trinidad (CMDLT), one of the premier teaching hospitals in Venezuela. His areas of expertise are scoliosis correction surgery, complex spine surgery, and spine and joint pain. He came to the United States regularly for multiple fellowships including joint replacement surgery, minimally invasive spine surgery, and complex spine surgery, where he trained with some of the most renowned orthopedic spine surgeons in the world.

Shortly after coming to Miami, Dr. Perez Oliva obtained his APRN license and has resumed his career at the Neuroscience Pain Center. His main clinical interests are interventional management of spine and joint pain using the latest techniques and procedures. He is a member of the North American Spine Society (NASS) and is certified in Spine Arthroplasty and Interventional Spine Procedures by NASS.

When he is not at work, he can frequently be found on the water. He has been an avid boater for many years. He also loves animals and has several dogs that he and his wife have adopted.
