Basic Exercise Information for Pain Patients

  • Avoid overhead presses (also known as military presses). Chest presses and bench presses are a better choice.
  • Avoid jogging or running, particularly on hard surfaces, for exercise.
  • Avoid high impact exercises.
  • Goal is to exercise 3-5 times per week. Less than 3 times per week is not as effective. More than 5 times per week increases the risk of injury without much additional benefit.
